FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do we need to take snow chains if we drive?
You are very unlikely to find snow other than between January - March but the local roads are regularly gritted and cleared in adverse weather conditions.


Is there a shop and pub nearby?
The nearest shop is about 5 miles away in Dent village. Both Sedburgh and Hawes are bigger towns about 12 miles away with great pubs and good local shops. The Sportsman Pub is about a mile walk from Dent Station. Dent has its own brewery - great local ale.


Is it cold and do we need to take thermals?
Given its height and locality, Dent receives its fair share of sunshine as well as wind and rain... but with oil fired central heating, underfloor heating and a Rayburn aga... as well as a structure built in the 1800's, it is well insulated to the great outdoors.


Can we take the dog?
By prior agreement - the local farmer has sheep, so well behaved animals are welcome with prior agreement to some "house keeping" rules.


Is smoking allowed?
The property is strictly non-smoking (smokers are kindly requested to smoke outdoors and to ensure that they dispose of cigarette butts safely).
